Our first video from a bro pair!

Our newest installment of our au pair life video tag series has arrived! This one is a little extra special because it features a bro pair—you know him as Alvaro, from Spain.

Alvaro is an au pair living in Brookline, Massachusetts. He says America is an interesting place to live because there are so many different kinds of people from all over the world!

“You have so many different people from different cultures living together—and I think they do a really good job of welcoming people from other countries,” says Alvaro. “They make me feel secure—like I can really find my place here.”

One of his funniest experiences as an au pair in the USA has been always being mistaken as an American movie star! He says people stop him on the street, in the supermarket and out everywhere he goes asking if he’s Jake Gyllenhaal—he laughs it off, and says that it’s been a fun part of his time in America so far.

Alvaro also says the best part of being an au pair is embracing all the different opportunities that come with it. He says he’s gotten to know himself more—and that he’s had the chance to invest his free time in working on his hobbies and his next step in life.

No matter where you are in the au pair journey—whether you’re eager to start your application or simply curious about the experience—Alvaro will give you unique insight into au pair life by answering the following questions:

  1. What inspired you to become an au pair in the USA?
  2. Three words to describe your training school experience?
  3. Where did you live, and what was the best thing about living there?
  4. What surprised you most about America?
  5. Favorite and least favorite American food?
  6. How many states did you visit?
  7. Favorite memory with your host family?
  8. Best thing and hardest thing about being an au pair?
  9. How has being an au pair changed you?
  10. What advice would you give to anyone who is considering becoming an au pair?

If you’re an au pair (or former au pair) and want to contribute to our au pair life tag video series, we’d love to hear from you! When you make your video, please be sure to post it on YouTube (or other social media!) and title it “Cultural Care Au Pair Tag.”

Cultural Care Au Pair here! We believe that cultural exchange makes the world a better place – and so we’ve made it our life’s mission to help au pairs have enriching experiences in the USA. When we’re not helping au pairs travel, learn and grow in America, we’re probably eating candy from around the world and drinking copious amounts of coffee.
